Job Overview
Pick n Pay is seeking motivated Trainee Manager Stores to develop into strong retail leaders. This role provides hands-on experience in store operations, team management, and customer service, preparing candidates for future management positions within the company.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Excellence

Maintain hygiene, housekeeping, and safe working standards throughout the store

Ensure adherence to security procedures and policies
-
Monitor merchandise and display standards, including regular quality checks and stock rotation
-
Remove damaged or expired stock and prevent wastage, shrinkage, or damages
-
Ensure correct pricing and labeling across all products
-
Complete all administration accurately and on time
-
Analyse, maintain, and update documentation, taking appropriate action when necessary
-
Plan and implement sales promotions
Customer Service & Sales

Engage with customers, understand their needs, and provide appropriate products or services

Advise customers on product features and benefits

Monitor department profitability and take action to optimise results

Analyse sales data and make recommendations to drive performance
Stock & Inventory Management

Optimise stock levels to ensure products are in stock without overstocking

Monitor and take action on budget performance and departmental KPIs
Team Leadership & Development

Manage, coach, and motivate store employees to maintain high standards

Monitor and develop team performance, acknowledging good work and addressing areas for improvement

Foster teamwork and effective communication at all levels
Minimum Requirements
-
Matric / Grade 12 (certified copy required)

Sound numeracy skills and knowledge of the retail industry

2–3 years retail experience is advantageous

Ability to pass competency assessments and interviews
-
Flexibility to be transferred between stores

Willingness to undergo full credit and criminal checks

Valid South African ID and Driver’s License Code 08 (certified copies required)
