Commercial Underwriter – Join Hire Resolve’s Client Team
Hire Resolve’s esteemed insurance client is looking for an experienced Commercial Underwriter to join their team. The ideal candidate will evaluate complex risks, ensure compliance with underwriting standards, and foster broker relationships to drive business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and underwrite new and renewal commercial insurance policies within approved authority limits.
- Administer binder agreements and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Analyse risk exposure, claims history, and loss ratios to determine accurate pricing and coverage terms.
- Prepare and present quotes, renewal options, and alternative solutions to brokers.
- Monitor portfolio performance to achieve profitability and growth targets.
- Build strong broker relationships through professional and timely service.
- Adhere to company underwriting guidelines and industry best practices.
- Use Cardinal 360 for policy processing and portfolio tracking.
- Identify opportunities for cross-selling and business expansion.
- Contribute to improving underwriting processes and strategies.
Requirements
- RE5 certification (mandatory).
- NQF Level 5 in Short-Term Insurance (required).
- 5+ years’ commercial underwriting experience, including complex risks and large accounts.
- Binder experience (essential).
- Proficiency in Cardinal 360.
- Strong technical knowledge of commercial insurance products and policy language.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to manage broker relationships effectively.
