Job Overview
FlySafair Careers is seeking an experienced and results-driven Manager: Regional Airport Operations to oversee and optimise operational performance across regional airports. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and customer-focused airport operations while maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management

Manage and authorise purchasing and invoice approvals for Passenger Services, Crew, and Technical functions

Control and manage costs related to delays, disruptions, and missed connections

Motivate and manage additional contracts linked to procurement and operational requirements

Plan, organise, and motivate for resources to support operational demands
-
Coordinate delay handling and manage disrupted operations effectively
-
Oversee all passenger, ramp, and baggage handling activities
Service Providers & Stakeholder Engagement

Manage and maintain relationships with external service providers
-
Ensure service providers meet agreed Service Level Agreements for staff and equipment
-
Provide guidance to external service providers and internal departments
-
Ensure external staff are trained in line with regulatory requirements and internal manuals

Build and maintain relationships with charter operators
-
Motivate, tender, and manage charter operations as required
Compliance, Safety & Governance

Ensure full compliance with company policies, procedures, and brand standards
-
Ensure adherence to applicable aviation, ground safety, labour, health, and safety legislation
-
Coordinate scheduled audits to maintain the highest service and safety standards
-
Ensure Local Emergency Response Action Plans are implemented in collaboration with the safety department

Manage unresolved operational issues with financial impact, including inadmissible passenger cases
Performance & Customer Experience

Achieve punctuality and On-Time Performance targets

Manage ticket sales functions and reconciliation at all regional airports

Promote customer service KPIs and Net Promoter Score targets
-
Ensure a seamless and positive passenger experience across all stations
-
Engage directly with passengers via phone or email to address feedback and complaints
-
Ensure service providers align customer service delivery with FlySafair standards
Representation & Industry Participation

Represent FlySafair Operations at Airline Operators Committee forums
-
Participate in local airport committees including Baggage, Pilferage, Security, Safety, and Wildlife forums through service providers
Minimum Requirements
-
Grade 12 or equivalent
-
Diploma or Degree in Travel, Tourism, or Aviation is advantageous
-
Minimum of 10 years’ aviation experience, including at least 5 years in a management role
Experience & Knowledge
-
Passenger handling, baggage handling, ramp, cargo, and non-scheduled operations
-
Commercial ground handling agreements
-
IOSA and ISAGO audit requirements
-
Strong understanding of commercial airline and airport operations
Work Conditions

Availability to work non-office hours, weekends, and extended hours when operationally required
