Tyre & Mechanical Assistant – Value Logistics

Purpose of the Job
The Tyre & Mechanical Assistant supports all mechanical repairs, vehicle services, and tyre maintenance. This role involves conducting tyre surveys, performing corrective actions, attending roadside breakdowns, and ensuring vehicles are washed and cleaned before leaving the depot.

Key Responsibilities

Tyre Duties

• Strip, fit, and replace tyres as required
• Maintain correct tyre pressures
• Conduct regular tyre surveys and identify smooth or damaged tyres
• Attend to mechanical and tyre breakdowns on-site
• Complete tyre change slips accurately
• Ensure wheel nuts are torqued correctly
• Maintain tyre stock and ensure proper storage
• Keep workshop and tyre bay tools clean and organised

Workshop Assistance

• Assist with mechanical repairs, servicing, and maintenance tasks
• Support workshop operations, including breakdowns and service schedules
• Assist with job card completion, including parts listing and service tracking
• Help manage spare parts and tyre stock
• Maintain workshop, parts store, and tyre bay housekeeping

Washbay Duties

• Ensure all vehicles are washed and cleaned to company standards
• Maintain cleanliness and order in the washbay area
• Follow company dress code and PPE requirements

Health & Safety

• Adhere to health and safety procedures at all times
• Identify potential hazards and act under guidance to maintain a safe working environment

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Relevant mechanical and tyre experience

Skills Required

• Basic knowledge of Health and Safety procedures in workshop and tyre operations
• Ability to follow instructions and handle tasks under supervision
• Attention to detail and care in completing assigned tasks
