Job Description
The Senior Hydraulics Engineer will lead design and analysis for high-energy water systems, including spillways, energy dissipation structures, and hydrodynamic impacts on hydraulic infrastructure. The role emphasizes concept development, advanced numerical/physical modeling, and design of complex systems for dams and hydropower projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and review high-energy hydraulic structures (spillways, plunge pools, stilling basins).
- Conduct advanced hydraulic modeling (2D/3D CFD, physical model reviews).
- Evaluate hydrodynamic loads, pressure effects, cavitation, air entrainment, and transient phenomena.
- Collaborate with civil and geotechnical teams for integrated solutions.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and design documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Civil/Hydraulic Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- 8+ years’ experience in hydraulic design for dams/hydropower.
- Proficiency in modeling tools (Flow3D, HEC-RAS, OpenFOAM).
- Knowledge of physical modeling and high-energy hydraulic phenomena.
- Chartered status (or working toward ICE, Engineers Australia, or equivalent).
- Strong technical communication and reporting skills.
