Job Description
AECOM is seeking a BIM Coordinator (Civils) to manage BIM and Information Management on civil infrastructure projects. This role offers a hybrid work schedule with opportunities for both office and Remote work within South Africa.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Execute BIM implementation strategies on complex international projects.
- Administer Common Data Environments (CDEs), manage permissions, and oversee model setup in ACC/BIM360 or ProjectWise.
- Lead multi-discipline coordination workflows, including federated model creation, clash detection, and issue management using ACC, BIM360, Navisworks, or Revizto.
- Coordinate smart object metadata and classification with asset information databases.
- Provide advanced guidance on 3D modeling and data management for Bentley (OpenBridge, OpenRoads, OpenBuildings) or Autodesk (Civil 3D, InfraWorks, Revit) suites.
- Integrate point clouds into federated models and implement Scan-to-BIM workflows.
- Develop 4D construction simulations using Navisworks, Synchro, or similar tools.
- Support the creation of smart object libraries and templates (Revit families, Civil 3D catalogs) and maintain AECOM’s content repositories (Avail/UNIFI).
- Collaborate with global BIM teams to drive consistency in standards and best practices.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Demonstrable experience as a BIM Coordinator/Modeller on civil infrastructure projects (bridges, tunnels, roads, rail, civils buildings).
- Expertise in multi-discipline coordination, clash detection, and issue management with Autodesk Navisworks, Revizto, or ACC Model Coordination.
- Knowledge of ISO19650 framework and project documentation requirements.
- Advanced skills in resolving model conflicts in Civil 3D and Revit.
- Familiarity with Dynamo for workflow optimization is advantageous.
- Technical design and construction delivery knowledge in Transport and Civil Infrastructure.
- Experience with CDEs like Autodesk Construction Cloud and ProjectWise.
- Prior work with Transport Authority clients in the USA or Australia is a plus.
- Fluent English (spoken and written), strong teamwork, mentoring, and interpersonal skills.
Professional Qualifications:
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Design Technology, Construction Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years in BIM and Digital Delivery.
