Job Description
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accounts Payable Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of the accounts payable function. The role focuses on ensuring accurate invoice processing, timely payments, reconciliations, and efficient month-end closing processes. This position plays a key role in maintaining strong supplier relationships by ensuring payments are processed accurately and on time, while also providing effective team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage daily activities within the accounts payable team
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices
- Review general ledger coding and accounts payable entries for accuracy and compliance
- Manage weekly and monthly payment runs
- Handle supplier, vendor, and trade-related queries efficiently
- Review and approve supplier reconciliations
- Ensure timely completion of month-end closing activities
- Collaborate with procurement, banking, IT finance, and other internal stakeholders
- Support, guide, and develop accounts payable team members
- Monitor system performance and liaise with IT finance to improve efficiency
- Ensure all queries are resolved within agreed timeframes
- Track and ensure achievement of key performance indicators
- Support internal and external audit processes as required
Qualifications and Experience
- Matric plus a relevant finance qualification
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in an accounts payable supervisory role
- Strong experience with Oracle Financials
- Experience within a retail finance environment is advantageous
- Proven supervisory experience and ability to work within a team environment
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
