About the Role
Dis-Chem is seeking a qualified Clinic Nurse Practitioner to manage and operate a profitable Primary Health Care Clinic located within the pharmacy in Brackenfell. The role requires practicing within the scope of a registered nursing practitioner while ensuring high-quality patient care and clinic operations.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Tertiary qualification in General Nursing
- Degree or Diploma in Midwifery
- Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
- Nursing practitioner must obtain BHF registration
- 2–3 years’ experience as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Advantageous:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Primary Health Care
- Familiarity with Patient Record Systems, CKS, and Allegra
Key Responsibilities
Clinic Operations:
- Perform duties according to industry regulations and best practices
- Set clinic objectives to optimize patient flow and clinic performance
- Ensure all clinic services are available and operational
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure follow-up communication
- Keep the clinic open and operational during designated hours
- Process claims accurately and on time
- Maintain clinic stock and equipment in working order and sufficient supply
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with patients, store and dispensary managers, colleagues, medical aids, suppliers, and key community healthcare players
Competencies:
Essential:
- Knowledge of community health, primary health care, occupational health nursing, family planning, cytology, IUD insertion, pharmacology, EPI/cold chain management, STDs, emergency care, HIV/AIDS pre- and post-counseling, breastfeeding, pathology, and wound care
- Participation in quarterly CPD and in-service training with Dis-Chem
- Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
- Understanding of financial targets and implications
- Analytical skills to review monthly clinic statistics and commissions
- Emotional intelligence, entrepreneurial flair, honesty, and trustworthiness
- Ability to manage self and team; self-motivated and proactive
- Effective time management

- Additional courses: Baby Immunisation (DoH/Sanofi Pasteur), Family Planning (DoH), Primary Health Care, Breastfeeding, Disease Management
Special Conditions of Employment:
