Job Description
The Senior Credit Risk Analyst will be based at Head Office and play a critical role in enhancing business performance through data-driven insights, analysis, and reporting. The role focuses on developing and implementing credit risk strategies, supporting decision-making, and ensuring optimal portfolio performance. The successful candidate will contribute strategically while providing technical expertise and analytical leadership within the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the achievement of a balanced credit portfolio through accurate forecasting and analysis
- Develop and implement champion/challenger strategies aligned with business objectives
- Monitor portfolio performance and proactively recommend improvements to meet key performance indicators
- Investigate data integrity issues, validate analytical outputs, and ensure accuracy of findings
- Conduct impact analysis for changes in credit strategies across application and account management processes
- Present insights and recommendations through detailed reports and presentations to senior stakeholders
- Forecast and track performance of implemented strategies using statistical techniques
- Manage projects related to the implementation of strategy changes into operational systems
- Perform coding and analytical tasks within a retail credit environment
- Apply expertise in IFRS9, credit strategy rules, and risk management frameworks
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant postgraduate qualification in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
- Business Science or B.Com Degree, or equivalent qualification
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in consumer credit within a credit risk analytics environment
- Proven ability to translate analytical insights into practical business solutions
Competencies
- Strong understanding of the full credit life cycle
- Experience with revolving store cards or credit cards is advantageous
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure in both structured and unstructured environments
- Strong background in predictive analytics and numerical analysis
- Capability to monitor models and present insights to senior leadership
- Ability to mentor team members and contribute to training and development initiatives
- High attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy
- Strong ethical standards with a high level of integrity and confidentiality
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Experience with SAS (Base, Enterprise Guide, or SAS Viya) highly advantageous
- Knowledge of SQL and Python is beneficial
