About the Role
The Tyre Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient management and maintenance of tyres across the fleet. This position involves conducting routine tyre inspections, handling breakdown support, managing stock, and maintaining accurate records within the tyre management system. The role requires travel to various operational sites to ensure optimal tyre performance and adherence to safety standards.
Purpose of the Job
The Tyre Coordinator is responsible for executing tyre maintenance activities, conducting detailed tyre surveys, supporting breakdowns, and ensuring proper stock control. The role focuses on maintaining fleet safety, improving tyre lifespan, and ensuring accurate reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Tyre Surveys
- Travel to operational sites as required
- Prioritise tyre surveys and maintenance based on fleet lists provided by the Supervisor
- Conduct detailed tyre inspections according to assigned schedules
- Capture accurate data using the tyre management system, including brand numbers, wheel positions, tyre pressure, and tread depth
- Ensure all vehicles and spare wheels are surveyed monthly
- Report missing spare wheels and mark spare rims for identification
- Ensure wheel nuts are properly secured and fitted with indicators
- Take and submit images of scrap tyres
- Provide daily feedback on completed surveys, outstanding tasks, and identified issues
- Meet daily survey targets set by management
Stock Control
- Ensure tyre stock is secured at all times
- Assist in investigating and reporting stock discrepancies
- Support monthly stock counts and inventory control processes
Branding of Tyres
- Identify tyres without brand numbers and report accordingly
- Perform tyre branding as per approved guidelines
Tyre Replacement
- Replace worn, damaged, or punctured tyres in line with company procedures
- Accurately complete and submit tyre change documentation daily
Tyre Rotations
- Perform tyre rotations in accordance with tread matching standards
- Ensure all documentation is completed and submitted on time
Breakdown Support
- Prepare breakdown vehicles with the correct tyres before dispatch
- Respond quickly to tyre-related breakdowns
- Handle breakdowns in compliance with road safety regulations and company policies
- Complete all required reports and documentation
- Return damaged tyres to the depot and submit relevant paperwork
Company Equipment and Assets
- Secure all tools, equipment, and handheld devices after use
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and submit reports
- Ensure vehicles are parked safely and keys are secured after shifts
- Report any vehicle damage or incidents immediately
- Maintain all tools in proper working condition and report defects promptly
- Submit weekly equipment checklists
Housekeeping
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment and company vehicle
Health and Safety
- Follow all health and safety regulations and procedures
- Report hazards, incidents, and risks immediately
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment at all times
General Responsibilities
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and standards
- Support additional operational requirements when needed
- Be available for occasional weekend work
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Valid Code B driver’s license
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in heavy-duty tyre maintenance

- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
