About the Program:
FlySafair is seeking skilled and safety-focused First Officers to join our flight operations team. As a First Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our aircraft, supporting the Captain, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations:

• Ensure the safety of flight at all times.
• Monitor aircraft systems and flight path continuously.
• Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with internal departments, service providers, and passengers.
• Navigate and operate the aircraft according to regulations and company procedures.
• Maintain compliance with SACAA and international aviation laws and company operations manuals.
• Submit accurate and complete legal and administrative flight documentation.
• Assume command in the event of the Captain’s incapacitation.
• Assist the Captain with operational, administrative, and crew management duties.
• Maintain high standards of crew discipline, behaviour, and personal appearance.
• Provide advice and support to the Captain to ensure safe and efficient flight operations.

Pre-Flight Duties:

• Review flight route, briefing sheets, weather conditions, and runway states.
• Complete all required pre-flight checks and documentation.
• Collaborate with the Captain on fuel selection, alternates, and any flight restrictions.

In-Flight Duties:

• Execute and monitor all normal, abnormal, and emergency procedures.
• Cross-check all flight instruments, including altitude, speed, and heading.
• Alert the Captain immediately to deviations, hazardous situations, or abnormal readings.
• Conduct radio communications as required.

Post-Flight Duties:

• Complete post-flight procedures and submit relevant documentation and reports, including IQSMS.

Job Requirements:

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• SACAA Commercial Pilot License (Essential).
• SACAA ATPL (Preferred).
• Class 1 SACAA Medical Certificate (Essential).
• Type rating on Boeing aircraft (Advantageous).
• Minimum 1500 hours total flight time, including 500 hours multi-turbine experience (Essential).
• Experience on commercial jets over 20 tons (Advantageous).
• Multi-crew experience (Essential).
• No medical conditions affecting fitness to fly.
• Willingness to sign applicable training bonds.
• No criminal record and must pass drug and alcohol testing.
• Own transport and valid RSA Driver’s License.
• South African citizen with proof of identity and valid RSA passport.
• Willingness to work irregular hours on a roster.
• Strong knowledge of SACAA, ICAO, and Doc 8186 regulations.
