About the Role
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Casual Merchandiser for their Ridgeview store. This role ensures that Dis-Chem’s merchandising standards are properly executed and maintained while delivering excellent customer service.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Up to 6 months retail experience
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Willing and able to work retail hours
Advantageous:
- At least 1 year retail experience
Key Responsibilities
- Restock merchandise to maximize sales.
- Ensure delivered stock or stock pulled from the storeroom is stored and packed correctly and on time.
- Monitor shelf stock to prevent expired or outdated items.
- Maintain full product range on shelves at all times.
- Rotate stock regularly using FIFO principles.
- Report low stock, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired stock to management.
- Assist with stock counting and general stocktaking.
- Follow Dis-Chem operating standards, store layout, and planograms.
- Flatten boxes after unpacking and place in the designated area.
- Ensure shelves and products are neatly presented with correct labels and pricing.
- Report price discrepancies to management.
- Stay updated on current and new products.
- Build, face up, stock, and maintain merchandising displays.
- Maintain daily store upkeep and manage designated stock in storeroom and on the shop floor.
- Assist with loading and off-loading of stock.
- Clearly mark items without barcodes.
- Support back shopping activities.
- Assist in training new staff members.
- Provide friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance to customers.
- Follow up on all customer out-of-stock queries using the customer service out-of-stock list.
- Resolve customer stock queries efficiently.
- Wear the correct uniform and badge at all times.
- Handle merchandise carefully to minimize losses.
- Adhere to Dis-Chem policies, procedures, SOPs, and health and safety regulations.

Advantageous:
- Bilingual abilities
- Knowledge of merchandising standards and the FMCG industry
- Product and category knowledge
- Ability to analyse ZMORE reports for ordering and stocktaking
- Ability to report suspicious or inappropriate behaviour
Special Conditions of Employment:
- Willing and able to work retail hours
- Physically fit to lift and move stock safely, adhering to health and safety standards
- Reliable transport or reside near the store
- South African citizen
