About the Role
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a reliable Casual Cashier to join the La Lucia store. The role involves supporting customer service at the point of sale while ensuring accurate transaction processing and a world-class shopping experience. The position requires strict adherence to company policies and procedures, with a focus on accuracy and fraud prevention.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Minimum 6 months’ experience in cashier or till operations
• Computer literate (MS Office)
• Strong numerical skills
• Good command of the English language
• Basic customer service skills
• Willing and able to work retail hours

Key Responsibilities

• Follow all company customer service policies and procedures
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers
• Report complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management
• Maintain customer transaction targets and turnover rates
• Stay informed about current promotions and sales
• Ensure a safe environment for customers and colleagues
• Apply Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles
• Manage cash flow responsibly and securely
• Ensure all voids and price changes are authorised by the supervisor
• Process exchanges, returns, and all forms of payments, including cash, cards, vouchers, and coupons
• Handle loyalty cards, including partner programs (Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks)
• Secure cash in the drop safe according to SOPs
• Protect system codes and passwords; update regularly
• Ensure all items are scanned and paid for before leaving the point of sale
• Handle daily takings confidentially and report only to management
• Remain alert and report suspicious behaviour
• Address customer queries regarding store merchandise
• Comply with all security policies and procedures
