Actuarial Assistant – Non-Life Insurance Reserving

Hire Resolve is seeking a motivated and technically proficient Actuarial Assistant to join our client’s team, specializing in reserving within the non-life insurance sector. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, planning, and data integrity while gaining valuable exposure to actuarial best practices and industry frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate and validate reserves in compliance with IFRS17 and SAM reporting requirements for quarterly and annual submissions.
  • Provide actuarial insights for financial reporting, forecasting, and reserving-related projections.
  • Support financial planning by delivering reserving assumptions for internal and regulatory needs.
  • Collaborate with finance teams, auditors, and regulators to address reserving queries and audit requests.
  • Prepare and analyze reserve reports, assisting in regulatory submissions such as SAM QRTs and FSCA Conduct of Business Returns.
  • Enhance data quality management processes for actuarial inputs and outputs.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of actuarial models, tools, and reporting systems.

Requirements

  • Degree in Actuarial Science or a related field.
  • Minimum of A1 and A2 Technical exams completed (ASSA or equivalent IFoA stage).
  • 2-3 years of experience in non-life insurance, preferably in reserving or technical reporting.
  • Strong grasp of reserving methodologies, actuarial modeling, and short-term insurance valuation principles.
  • Knowledge of IFRS17 and SAM regulatory standards.
  • Strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and proactive problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to communicate complex actuarial concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, SQL, and Power BI; experience with ResQ or similar software is a plus.
  • High accountability and ability to deliver quality work under deadlines.
