About the Role
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Casual Merchandiser for their Cornubia store. This role ensures that Dis-Chem’s merchandising standards are consistently executed and maintained while providing excellent customer service.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Up to 6 months retail experience
• Computer literate (MS Office)
• Willing and able to work retail hours

Advantageous:

• At least 1 year retail experience

Key Responsibilities

• Restock merchandise to maximize sales.
• Store and organize delivered or storeroom stock correctly and timeously.
• Ensure stock on shelves is within sell-by dates.
• Maintain full product range on shelves at all times.
• Rotate stock regularly using FIFO principles.
• Report low stock, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired stock to management.
• Assist with stock counts and general stocktaking.
• Follow Dis-Chem operating standards, store layout, and planograms.
• Flatten boxes after unpacking and place in the designated area.
• Ensure shelves and products are neatly presented with correct labels and pricing.
• Report price discrepancies to management.
• Keep updated on current and new products.
• Build, face up, stock, and maintain merchandising displays.
• Maintain daily upkeep of store and merchandise displays; manage designated stock in storeroom and on the shop floor.
• Assist with loading and off-loading of stock.
• Clearly mark items without barcodes.
• Support back shopping activities.
• Assist in training new staff.
• Provide friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance to all customers.
• Follow up on all customer out-of-stock queries using the customer service out-of-stock list.
• Ensure all stock queries from customers are resolved efficiently.
• Wear the correct uniform and badge at all times.
• Handle merchandise carefully to minimize losses.
• Adhere to Dis-Chem policies, procedures, SOPs, and health and safety regulations.

• Knowledge of merchandising standards and FMCG industry
• Product and category knowledge
• Ability to analyse ZMORE reports for ordering and stocktaking
• Ability to report suspicious or inappropriate behaviour

Special Conditions of Employment:

• Physically fit to lift and move stock safely, adhering to health and safety standards
• Reliable transport or reside near the store
• South African citizen
• Clear credit and criminal records
