About the Role
Dis-Chem Baby City is seeking a Casual Sales Assistant for their Kenilworth Centre store. The role focuses on providing excellent customer service, maintaining stock levels, processing payments at the point of sale, and upholding high merchandising standards.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Up to 6 months retail experience
  • Minimum 1 year retail experience

Advantageous:

  • Certification in Retail Business Management

Key Responsibilities

  • Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired stock to management.
  • Assist with stock counts and general stocktaking.
  • Support loading and off-loading of stock when needed.
  • Identify and report damaged or expired stock immediately.
  • Flatten boxes after unpacking stock and place in designated areas.
  • Ensure full product ranges are on shelves and neatly presented.
  • Monitor shelf stock to prevent expired items.
  • Restock merchandise as needed to maximize sales.
  • Maintain correct displays, labels, and pricing; report discrepancies to management.
  • Stay updated on new product knowledge to assist customers effectively.
  • Handle merchandise carefully to minimize losses.
  • Build and maintain displays for promotions in a timely manner.
  • Implement monthly promotions to maximize sales.
  • Ensure promotional signage, posters, and price tickets are displayed on time.
  • Remove promotional stock immediately after promotions end.
  • Maintain accurate cash flow and follow cash handling procedures.
  • Process all customer transactions, including cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, and loyalty cards.
  • Ensure outgoing stock/items/scripts are scanned and paid for.
  • Build professional relationships with customers and provide courteous assistance.
  • Report customer compliments and complaints to management.
  • Resolve all customer stock queries efficiently.
