Purpose of the Job
The Transport Supervisor is responsible for managing transport operations, coordinating drivers, and ensuring the company fleet is maintained according to company policies and Road Traffic legislation. The role ensures the fleet is serviceable, available on demand, and that all transport activities support smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities

General Responsibilities

• Supervise and oversee daily transport activities, including loading and timely dispatch

• Book services and manage fleet maintenance with workshops and panel shops

• Schedule and forecast fleet availability to meet operational demands

• Ensure vehicles are roadworthy, including pre- and post-trip inspections, and manage accident handling

• Allocate fleet and operational staff to support transport and hub departments

• Complete all accident documentation and submit to the internal insurance department

• Monitor routine and ad hoc maintenance, obtain tags for new vehicles, and renew existing ones

• Ensure fleet operations comply with Road Traffic Acts and regulations

• Monitor fuel consumption and reconcile fuel card expenses for all vehicles and drivers

• Develop and implement operational standards for vehicle maintenance and fleet management

• Facilitate corrective actions and capacity building to achieve company objectives

• Conduct ACC meetings with drivers and crew to investigate accidents

• Track and manage abuse costs and ensure recovery

• Facilitate training programs for transport staff

• Manage fuel bowser operations

• Ensure accurate transport debriefing and address any transgressions

• Oversee repair and maintenance of VMH equipment

Reports and Record Keeping

• Maintain weekly kilometre updates and vehicle/trailer asset registers

• Prepare fuel consumption, fleet utilisation, and maintenance reports

• Manage driver training records, assessments, PDPs, and licenses

• Maintain licence, COF, and vehicle key registers

• Conduct daily and weekly fleet inspections and verify previous day debriefs

Staff Management

• Measure staff performance and address behavioural issues

• Supervise and guide transport team to meet operational objectives

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)

• Logistics or Transport qualification advantageous

• 2–3 years’ experience in transport operations

• Fleet management experience
