About the Program

Purpose of the Job
As a Forklift Technician, you will perform maintenance, servicing, and repairs on forklifts and related equipment. This includes disassembling, cleaning, inspecting, and reassembling components, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect forklifts for general defects and determine repair needs
• Prepare technical reports outlining required repairs and spare parts
• Strip, clean, and assess components for wear or damage
• Assemble components using new and reusable parts
• Diagnose system failures, consult with team leader/workshop foreman, and document findings
• Record all tasks, parts used, and time spent on job cards
• Service and repair forklifts to manufacturer specifications
• Provide standby or after-hours support for breakdowns
• Maintain high productivity and efficiency standards
• Supervise, train, and guide workshop assistants and semi-skilled personnel
• Report unsafe working conditions or equipment to team leaders/workshop foremen
• Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures
• Assist with operational functions as required
• Maintain professional conduct and company dress code
• Uphold daily housekeeping standards in the workshop
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Red Seal Qualification
• 2+ years of experience in forklift or mechanical repairs preferred
