About the Role
As an Airport Operations Specialist at FlySafair, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless airport operations. You will develop and manage weekly operational plans, aligning staffing and equipment with business priorities and passenger demand forecasts. Anticipating operational constraints, you will recommend proactive solutions to maintain high service standards and regulatory compliance.
You will contribute to workforce and capacity planning, manage relationships with third-party service providers and airport authorities, and ensure adherence to contracts, service-level agreements, and safety standards. Leading performance reviews with service providers, you will address deficiencies and negotiate improvements while collaborating with internal stakeholders in Flight Operations, Technical, and Ground Handling to align operational activities.
Acting as the delegated authority for the Base Manager during periods of absence, you will ensure operational continuity, compliance with safety, security, and regulatory requirements, and provide guidance to operational staff while resolving complex issues. You will also represent the Base Manager in audits, inspections, and operational forums, collect and analyze operational data, design dashboards and reporting tools, and use insights to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service delivery. Partnering with senior stakeholders, you will make data-driven recommendations on operational strategy and resource allocation.
Key Responsibilities

Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent (essential).
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Management, Data Analytics, Logistics, or related field (essential).
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in airport or airline operations, including 2 years in a specialist or supervisory role (essential).
- Experience in third-party/vendor performance management (essential).
- Proven ability to apply data insights to improve operational efficiency and service quality (essential).
- Knowledge of baggage and ramp handling procedures, IATA AHM and GOM, GSE, safety standards, SACAA regulations, airport operational procedures, and IATA Dangerous Goods Manual.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools, reporting systems, and MS Office.
