Garment Technologist – Pep Vacancies

About the Role

Pep Vacancies is seeking an experienced Garment Technologist to provide quality assurance support to the Merchandise department, Supply Chain, and suppliers. The successful candidate will ensure product quality standards are met through technical assessments, supplier collaboration, and product development support.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and provide feedback on fit, pre-production, and production samples from suppliers.
• Work closely with the Product Development team to develop new silhouettes and garment shapes.
• Compile and prepare technical briefs and detailed size specifications.
• Review and approve or reject fabric testing reports based on quality standards.
• Communicate required changes to suppliers through technical feedback and clear diagrams.
• Assist in developing technical manuals in line with company processes and quality standards.
• Conduct bulk audit assessments to ensure product quality compliance.
• Visit stores to evaluate the quality of products delivered and ensure standards are maintained.
• Perform additional project-related duties as required.

Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualification in a related field.
• 5–10 years of experience as a Technologist within clothing, home softs, or retail quality assurance technology.
• Industry experience will be advantageous.
• Knowledge of pattern making will be beneficial.
• Experience with garment grading, fitting, and measurement processes.
• Strong understanding of underwear construction.
• In-depth knowledge of outer garment technology within a retail environment will be advantageous.
• Strong commercial awareness to assess product suitability and performance.
• Experience with internal systems such as Product Life Cycle Management (PLM), Centric, or other web-based systems.
• Computer literacy, including Google Workspace.
• Knowledge of CorelDRAW or Adobe Illustrator will be an advantage.
