About the Program
Pick n Pay’s Value Added Services Division is a dynamic and expanding area within the organization, comprising three key business units: Financial Services, Value Added Services, and Cellular.
Financial Services includes Banking, Transactional activities, Lending, and Insurance. Value Added Services covers Bill Payments, Prepaid Electricity, Ticketing, Travel, Events, Lotto, and a variety of third-party and proprietary virtual and physical gift cards. The Cellular unit provides pre-paid airtime, handsets, accessories, and PnP Mobile, our in-house MNVO.
As a Product Manager in the Value Added Services team, you will operate in a unique, collaborative environment that combines the innovation and agility of a growing division with the stability and cross-functional exposure of a large corporate structure. This role offers opportunities to work closely with Marketing, Retail Operations/Stores, Information Systems, Commercial, and Finance departments.
You will lead customer-centric product design, development, deployment, and management, driving revenue growth and retail turnover. This includes executing the portfolio strategy and ensuring the end-to-end value chain operates efficiently.
Minimum Requirements
- Commercial or Financial degree, or equivalent NQF level 7 or higher qualification
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in product development and/or management
- Strong data analysis and interpretation skills
- Solid understanding of commercial contracts
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and internet applications
- Strong communication, analytical, and presentation skills
- Experience in Value-Added Services products is advantageous
- Retail experience is advantageous

Key Responsibilities
- Define and manage the product portfolio roadmap
- Develop competitive responses to new market entrants in collaboration with HOD: Value-Added Services and strategic partners
- Analyze customer behavior and link insights to product pricing and features
- Maintain full knowledge of product portfolios and associated cost centers
- Ensure product value propositions integrate seamlessly into customer value propositions, supporting acquisition and retention
- Update and maintain product and process documentation
- Provide exception reporting on revenue leakage and maintain key product KPIs
- Implement new products or changes to existing products
- Conduct annual reviews of product pricing, features, and competitiveness
- Monitor and evaluate product performance, including revenue, acquisition, and volumes
- Conduct periodic KPI and steering committee reviews with partners as per supplier management policy
- Design and execute focused campaigns to drive product adoption and engagement
