About the Role

Sab Vacancies is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Regional Logistics Controller to oversee financial and operational control within distribution centres (DCs). The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring logistics costs, ensuring compliance with financial controls, supporting inventory management, and delivering accurate financial insights that support business performance and operational efficiency.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Cost Leadership

  • Oversee and manage actual costs across distribution centres.
  • Ensure that all DC costs are recorded accurately and completely.
  • Maintain and manage Balance Sheet entries related to logistics operations.
  • Ensure the reliability and accuracy of financial results including transfer pricing, VIC/VLC, ZBB, and asset bookings.
  • Maintain first-time-right financial postings while minimizing accounting errors and manual journal entries.
  • Manage DC inventory and CAPEX processes, ensuring compliance with booking procedures and internal processes.
  • Ensure asset bookings comply with PRC and IFRS standards.
  • Maintain alignment between asset management processes and internal control policies while improving operational efficiency.

Controls and Compliance

  • Act as the first line of defense in monitoring and executing internal control processes.
  • Ensure DC controls reflect operational realities and are implemented effectively.
  • Review the PR-GR cycle and returnable packaging management to ensure compliance.

Cost Management

  • Analyze distribution centre costs and perform benchmarking to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Verify the accuracy and reasonableness of accruals.
  • Reconcile utility costs such as water, electricity, and effluent between internal and municipal readings.
  • Monitor GRN compliance including open purchase orders and unit of measure receipting accuracy.
  • Review reallocation journals, perform root cause analysis, and identify process improvements to reduce manual adjustments.
  • Approve journals in line with delegated authority guidelines.
  • Perform driver reconciliations and proof-of-delivery reconciliations to ensure complete and accurate invoicing and debtor management.
  • Ensure proper accounting and control of returnable packaging.
  • Reconcile MBFU recharge accounts including missing, broken, foreign, or unwashable glass.

Inventory Management

  • Ensure compliance with inventory management procedures for finished goods, raw materials, and empties.
  • Review quarterly stock counts, perform reconciliations, and ensure differences are recorded appropriately.
  • Participate in quarterly stock counts and review monthly inventory processes.
  • Conduct stock movement analysis and investigate irregularities.
  • Ensure adherence to inventory controls across distribution centres and support CSA audits.
  • Provide training to DC teams on inventory control processes.
  • Conduct ad-hoc stock counts at high-risk sites based on risk scorecards and stock variance indicators.
  • Report obsolete stock risks to DC and distribution managers to minimize write-offs.
  • Identify and escalate control check deviations and support corrective actions.

CAPEX Management

  • Ensure capital expenditures are captured and capitalized correctly.
  • Validate capitalization within distribution centres.
  • Support DC managers with physical asset verification.
  • Identify and request asset impairments when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with ZBB, VLC, and SCO policies.

Logistics Control Support

  • Ensure stock count standard operating procedures are understood and implemented.
  • Provide training to stakeholders and share best practices across teams.
  • Monitor DPO performance and ensure compliance with payment terms and requirements.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Support financial planning and performance management teams with forecast inputs.
  • Contribute to latest estimates and one-year financial planning processes.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Chartered Accountant qualification
  • Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience within an industry environment
  • Previous experience in a controlling role, preferably within a manufacturing or operational site
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial controls
  • Working knowledge of SAP, Syspro, Business Warehouse, or Anaplan will be advantageous
