About the Role
Pick n Pay Careers is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Inventory Manager to oversee and optimise inventory processes within the store. This role is critical in safeguarding stock integrity, identifying financial risk exposure, and improving stock efficiency to support overall business performance and profitability.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (essential)
  • 2–3 years’ experience in inventory control or stock management
  • Strong understanding of stock counts, stock movements, and loss prevention processes
  • Experience working with retail systems and reporting tools such as SAP or similar
  • Proven ability to analyse data and identify root causes of stock variances
  • Computer literacy in MS Office

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Control and Risk Management

  • Execute comprehensive stock count plans, including national, divisional, and ad hoc counts
  • Implement effective exit management controls to minimise stock losses
  • Manage dormant, obsolete, and overstock processes to optimise working capital
  • Analyse stock discrepancies and variances, providing corrective action recommendations to management
  • Ensure accurate execution of all stock movement processes, including shop use, reduce-to-clear, inter-department and inter-branch transfers, and waste

Merchandising and Stock Availability

  • Generate and analyse daily and weekly stock reports, including category reviews, negative stock, and on-shelf availability
  • Verify stock availability across locations for dormant, obsolete, and exit stock
  • Identify and report deviations from merchandising standards and administrative controls
  • Monitor compliance with inventory movement processes and ensure corrective action is implemented

Systems, Reporting and Administration

  • Validate stock-related reports and system postings in collaboration with store management
  • Analyse operational stock and movement reports to identify trends and risks
  • Plan and coordinate ad hoc stock counts as required
  • Maintain system integrity and ensure accurate stock data at all times
  • Manage and update the Stock Availability Programme on a daily and weekly basis

People Management and Development

  • Coach, supervise, and support staff on inventory control procedures
  • Drive a culture of inventory discipline through training and continuous feedback
  • Promote accountability and adherence to standard operating procedures across the store
