Job Description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a results-driven Biogen Sales Manager to join the Head Office team. This role is responsible for driving the growth of the Biogen brand through strategic sales execution, effective product management, and optimized route-to-market strategies. The successful candidate will oversee performance across retail, independent, and export channels, while strengthening market presence across Africa and international regions.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

  • Matric or Senior Certificate
  • Diploma or Degree in a health-related field such as Sports Science, Nutrition, or Health Sciences
  • 3–5 years’ management experience in sales, marketing, brand management, category management, or promotions

Advantageous:

  • Equivalent qualification aligned with the health and wellness sector
  • Proven experience in implementing sales strategies and executing brand initiatives

Key Responsibilities

Management:

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and deadlines across all regions
  • Manage team performance through structured performance management systems
  • Drive continuous training, development, and performance feedback

Brand, Range & Product Management:

  • Oversee the full Biogen product portfolio, including co-branded offerings
  • Act as a product and category specialist with strong market awareness
  • Support new product launches in collaboration with marketing and digital teams

Route to Market & Commercial Execution:

  • Develop and execute route-to-market strategies across retail, independent, and export channels
  • Expand and support export markets while identifying new growth opportunities
  • Manage and grow independent accounts, ensuring strong commercial partnerships
  • Ensure consistent and professional brand execution across all channels
  • Support retail marketing campaigns and ensure alignment with brand strategy

Sales, Forecasting & Performance:

  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets
  • Support forecasting, demand planning, and performance tracking
  • Analyse sales data and market insights to inform decision-making

Buyer & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Engage with buyers and category managers to influence pricing, promotions, and product range
  • Collaborate with internal departments including Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations
  • Maintain strong relationships with external partners, suppliers, and distributors

Export & Market Development:

  • Develop and manage export strategies, including distributor relationships and compliance
  • Identify and expand into new international markets
  • Ensure export readiness in product compliance, supply, and execution

Customer Service & Channel Excellence:

  • Maintain high standards of customer service across all markets
  • Address customer feedback, complaints, and compliments effectively

Merchandising & Stock Control:

  • Ensure compliance with merchandising standards and promotional execution
  • Oversee stock management, including rotation, expiry control, and reporting
  • Manage damaged or non-compliant stock according to company policies

General:

  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and standard operating practices
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations

Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of health-focused products, category management, and sales execution
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with sound decision-making skills
  • High level of commercial awareness and understanding of market dynamics
  • Strong communication and presentation skills across all levels
  • Ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships
  • High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and compliance
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Leadership ability with a focus on team development and performance

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Special Conditions of Employment
