Job Description

Operations:

  • Ensure the safe and efficient conduct of each flight at all times;
  • Monitor aircraft systems and flight path continuously;
  • Conduct all required pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks and procedures;
  • Maintain clear communication with internal teams, external service providers, and passengers;
  • Navigate and operate the aircraft in accordance with established procedures;
  • Comply with all aviation regulations, company policies, and operational procedures;
  • Deliver exceptional customer service in line with company standards;
  • Complete and submit all required legal and administrative documentation accurately;
  • Assume command in the event of Captain incapacitation;
  • Remain updated on SACAA, ICAO, and company operational requirements;
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the Operations Manual relevant to assigned duties;
  • Support the Captain with operational and administrative responsibilities;
  • Promote high standards of discipline, conduct, and professionalism within the crew;
  • Execute duties in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and aircraft limitations;
  • Perform any additional responsibilities assigned by the Captain;
  • Ensure safe navigation through continuous monitoring of aircraft position and terrain clearance;
  • Provide input and assistance to support safe and efficient flight operations;
  • Uphold professional conduct and represent the company with integrity;
  • Contribute to maintaining high crew morale and performance standards;
  • Ensure full compliance with the company’s Operations Manual at all times.

Pre-Flight:

  • Review and understand the planned flight route, weather forecasts, and aerodrome conditions;
  • Complete all required checks and documentation as per the Operations Manual;
  • Collaborate with the Captain on fuel planning, alternates, and operational limitations;

In-Flight:

  • Execute and monitor all checklists, including normal, abnormal, and emergency procedures;
  • Continuously monitor flight instruments and adherence to procedures;
  • Immediately report deviations, hazards, or abnormal indications to the Captain;
  • Conduct radio communications as required;

Post-Flight:

  • Complete all post-flight procedures in accordance with OM and FCOM;
  • Submit all required reports and documentation accurately and on time.

Job Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification;
  • SACAA Commercial Pilot License (Essential);
  • SACAA ATPL (Preferred);
  • Valid Class 1 SACAA Medical Certificate (Essential);
  • Boeing type rating (Advantageous);
  • Experience on commercial jets over 20 tons (Advantageous);
  • Minimum 1500 flight hours, including at least 500 hours multi-turbine time (Essential);
  • Multi-crew experience (Essential);
  • No existing medical conditions;
  • Willingness to sign applicable training bonds;
  • Clear criminal record and willingness to undergo drug and alcohol testing;
  • Valid driver’s license and own transport;
  • South African citizenship with valid identification;
  • Valid passport;
  • Willingness to work irregular hours on a roster;
  • Strong knowledge of SACAA, ICAO regulations, and aviation standards;
  • Knowledge of Doc 8186 (Essential);
  • Understanding of commercial and airline transport pilot licensing requirements.
