Job Overview

Pick n Pay is seeking a Local Receiving Manager to oversee the efficient and accurate receiving of goods, ensuring compliance with company policies, quality standards, and operational procedures. The role includes supervising staff, maintaining safety and hygiene standards, and managing all receiving documentation and processes.

Key Responsibilities

Receiving Operations

  • Receive and process all deliveries in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • Conduct quality checks on incoming stock

  • Ensure all returns, including goods, equipment, and recyclables, are processed correctly

  • Monitor cold chain compliance for perishable items

  • Reject stock or deliveries when standards are not met

  • Complete all required administration and documentation related to receiving

  • Conduct daily end-of-day procedures and reporting

  • Respond to distribution centre (DC) claims and related queries

Health, Safety & Security

  • Maintain housekeeping and hygiene standards in the receiving area

  • Ensure safe working practices and compliance with health and safety regulations

  • Assist with security procedures and relieve security checks at entry/exit points

  • Operate equipment according to company standards

People Management & Development

  • Supervise, coach, and develop receiving staff

  • Communicate effectively with employees, management, suppliers, and customers

  • Ensure adherence to company policies, SOPs, and checklist requirements

Operational Checks

  • Conduct scale, fire door, alarm, and generator checks

  • Monitor and prevent wastage, shrinkage, and damages

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / Grade 12

  • Previous experience as a Receiving Supervisor

Competencies

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in receiving and reporting

  • Effective communication and leadership skills

  • Knowledge of health, safety, and hygiene standards

  • Ability to operate and manage equipment safely and efficiently
