Collection Agent – Pepkor Vacancies

Job Purpose

The primary responsibility of the Collection Agent is to engage with customers who are in arrears through telephonic communication, with the aim of securing suitable payment arrangements and meeting business collection targets.

Key Responsibilities

Inbound and Outbound Call Management
Handle both inbound and outbound calls in line with service level agreements and within the applicable legal framework. Maintain effective control of work queues and ensure timely follow-ups. Trace and re-establish contact with customers who are difficult to reach.

Collections and Payment Negotiation
Consistently achieve daily and monthly collection targets. Negotiate payment arrangements with customers using approved call scripts within dialer time limits. Clearly communicate account arrears and guide customers toward realistic repayment solutions. Support customers in improving their payment behavior while working to reduce outstanding balances and prevent accounts from rolling forward.

Customer Service Excellence
Provide accurate information regarding products, account details, and relevant legislation. Deliver a professional, courteous, and efficient customer experience at all times. Address customer queries promptly and execute instructions accurately. Ensure all administrative tasks related to account management are completed efficiently.

Compliance and Adherence
Follow assigned work schedules, including designated breaks. Comply with all company policies and procedures, including absence management, conduct standards, and disciplinary guidelines.

Requirements

Experience
A minimum of 18 months’ experience in collections within a call centre environment is required.

Qualifications
Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.

Skills and Competencies

Proficiency in debtor and account management systems
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent negotiation and problem-solving abilities
Good understanding of retail credit account management
Ability to perform in a fast-paced and target-driven environment
