About the Role
Dis-Chem Aloe Pharmacy is seeking a Casual Frontshop Assistant to maintain merchandising standards and support customer service at the point of sale, ensuring compliance with Dis-Chem policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric or Senior Certificate
- 0–6 months retail experience
Advantageous:
- 1 year retail experience
- Certification in Retail Business Management
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all product ranges are available and neatly presented on shelves.
- Monitor stock to prevent expired or out-of-date products.
- Restock merchandise to maximize sales.
- Handle customer out-of-stock queries promptly.
- Store and organize delivered stock correctly.
- Maintain accurate merchandise displays, labels, and pricing; report discrepancies.
- Keep the storeroom organized and tidy.
- Stay updated on product knowledge to assist customers effectively.
- Assist with back shopping and restocking as needed.
- Handle merchandise carefully to minimize losses.
- Process customer transactions, including cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, and loyalty cards.
- Facilitate returns and exchanges per company policy.
- Ensure cash is secured in the drop safe following SOPs.
- Approve line voids and price changes with Frontshop Leader authorization.
- Maintain accurate cash flow at all times.
- Rotate stock regularly and adhere to stock control procedures.
- Report low, damaged, or expired stock promptly.
- Support stock counting and general stocktaking activities.
- Assist with loading and off-loading stock, and flatten boxes for disposal.
- Build professional relationships with customers and provide courteous assistance.
- Report customer compliments and complaints to management.
- Meet customer turnover per hour benchmarks.
- Support training of new and existing team members.
- Ensure outgoing stock and scripts are correctly scanned and paid for.
- Maintain housekeeping according to Dis-Chem standards.
- Comply with Health & Safety regulations, company policies, and uniform standards.
- Report suspicious or inappropriate behavior by staff or customers.
Competencies:
Essential:
- Knowledge of retail operations and administration
- Problem-solving skills with appropriate escalation
- Basic arithmetic proficiency
- Effective verbal communication
- Timely customer service
- Understanding and following procedures
- Personal accountability and ability to deliver results with minimal supervision
Advantageous:
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Numerical skills and SAP knowledge
Special Conditions of Employment:
- Availability to work retail hours
- South African citizen
- MIE clearance, no criminal record, clear credit rating
- Driver’s license with own reliable transport
