About the Program

Job Description

• Conduct flights safely and efficiently, adhering to all regulations and company procedures.
• Monitor aircraft systems, flight path, and performance throughout all phases of flight.
• Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with internal departments, external service providers, and passengers.
• Navigate and operate the aircraft under the direction of the Captain.
• Maintain compliance with SACAA regulations, international aviation laws, and company operations manuals.
• Uphold FlySafair’s commitment to excellent customer service.
• Complete accurate and comprehensive administrative documentation.
• Identify and address safety threats collaboratively with the Captain and Operations team.
• Assume command in the event of Captain incapacitation.
• Assist the Captain with operational, administrative, and crew management duties.
• Maintain high standards of discipline, professional conduct, and personal appearance.
• Monitor aircraft navigation and ensure safe terrain clearance at all times.
• Provide timely advice, information, and support to the Captain to ensure safe and efficient flight operations.
• Participate in flight planning, including review of briefing sheets, weather, destination, and alternate aerodrome conditions.
• Execute all normal, abnormal, and emergency checklists according to the Operations Manual, FCOM, and FCTM.
• Monitor all flight parameters, cross-check instruments, and immediately report deviations or hazards to the Captain.
• Conduct R/T communications as required.
• Complete all post-flight procedures and submit relevant documentation and reports (e.g., IQSMS).

Job Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• SACAA Commercial Pilot License.
• Class 1 SACAA Medical Certificate.
• SACAA ATPL preferred.
• Boeing type rating advantageous.
• Minimum of 1000 total flying hours, with one of the following:
  • 500 Twin Turbine (P1/2) hours <10 000kg, OR
  • Boeing/Airbus type rated including Level D simulator time, OR
  • 250 Jet/Turbine hours >10 000kg.
• Willingness to sign applicable training bonds.
• No criminal record.
• Own transport and valid South African driver’s license.
• South African citizen with proof of identity and valid RSA passport.
• Willing to work irregular hours on a roster.
• Knowledge of SACAA, ICAO, and Doc 8168 regulations.
• Understanding of commercial and airline transport pilot licensing requirements.
• Language proficiency Level 6.
