Forklift Technician
Purpose of the Job
The Forklift Technician is responsible for inspecting, servicing, repairing, and assembling forklift components to ensure optimal performance and reliability. The role supports workshop efficiency through accurate diagnostics, quality repairs, proper documentation, and adherence to safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Inspection and Diagnostics

Inspect forklifts for general defects prior to repairs

Compile technical reports outlining the scope of required repairs

Identify component or system failures and discuss findings with the Team Leader or Workshop Foreman

Record all findings accurately on the job card
Repairs and Maintenance

Strip and dismantle forklift components
-
Clean, assess, and evaluate parts for wear or damage
-
Assemble components using new or serviceable parts
-
Service and repair forklifts in line with OEM specifications and maintenance schedules

Perform standby and after-hours breakdown support when required
Parts and Documentation

Compile detailed lists of spare parts required for repairs
-
Record all work performed, parts used, and time taken on job cards

Maintain accurate and complete repair documentation
Workshop Operations and Supervision

Maintain acceptable productivity and efficiency levels

Monitor, train, and guide repair shop assistants and semi-skilled artisans

Report unsafe working conditions or equipment to the Team Leader or Workshop Foreman

Ensure all Standard Operating Procedures are followed
General Duties

Maintain professional conduct at all times

Assist with operational functions as required

Comply with company dress code and grooming standards

Maintain daily housekeeping standards

Ensure strict adherence to Health and Safety requirements
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric)
-
Red Seal Qualification
-
Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience advantageous
